“All technical and methodological care with the environment, with communities involved, respect for institutions through federative pact. Everything is sought after, respected and observed throughout this concession process,” he says.

Concessions

The Humaitá National Forest forest concession is the first of nine similar concession projects in the Investment Partnership Program (PPI).

In forest concessions, private sector obtains the right to carry out sustainable management in a public area, through a public bidding process, based on technical and price criteria.

Management is carried out for a predetermined period of time (up to 40 years) and the concessionaire must meet a set of contractual obligations and performance indicators, formalized in a contract signed with the government.

Resources collected by the federal these concessions will arrive to Brazilian Forest Service, ICMBio, the National Forest Development Fund and the states and municipalities where the concessions are located.

In forests under concession, management is carried out, where natural resources are kept standing, while generating income and employment for populations, and contributing to local and regional economic development.
